It won't expose new recipes though! You'll need to learn how to make them or, as mentioned, receive them from NPCs as rewards. It'll then pull up a menu to show you everything you've made with that ingredient. Then, scroll down and press " Select for recipe." If you've got something you want to cook with but don't know what to make, hover over the ingredient in the Materials menu and select it. Did you use two Hearty Truffles, or three? Now you can check with the History feature on the recipe cards! This is most helpful for checking what's needed to recreate a gifted recipe or see how you made an extra potent recipe in the past.
